If people are concerned about people getting lucky in the tournament and knocking out the skilled, trying playing with shot calling. Number the cups starting from the top of the triangle to the bottom and going from left to right:

Players have to call which cup they want to make the shot in, otherwise it doesn’t count. This shouldn’t be too difficult or time consuming for skilled players because their actually aiming for cups.

i think that would be more time consuming then you think because even the most skilled players are off and wont always hit the cup they are aiming for

I play this way with my roommate and it doesn’t take more than 20 minutes, even if it’s not the rules for the tournament its good practice.

if you play gentlemen’s rules, then there will be fewer teams that are willing to play.
