  • Bpong was the first to have a huge tourney. I love all the guys associated with both, though (Billy, Duncan, Skinny and Sam for WPT), but Bpong will always be my first love. (No homo)

However, WPT is the only other company associated with beer pong that I know I can trust. They both know how to do it right. I really wish WPT stayed in AC, though. It was so great to have a huge tourney on the east coast. I probably won't be able to afford 2 trips to Vegas next year and I can't skip the WSOBP.

  • I agree with baker, going to vegas twice in a year will be really hard for people, I wish they were doing it in AC, it would be so much better.

Both are great. Basically bpong has been around a little bit longer, but the WBPT is up and coming, already did a big AC tournament, and is basically just giving people a 2nd big tournament during the year. Sam is a good guy, some of the people that work with him....eh, but that's on a personal level and nothing against the company.

i too wish it stayed in AC this year but i think I can manage 2 vegas trips.

  • Both are great companies and recently WPT has conformed to the standard table(bingbong) and cups(bombed).  back in the day the BJ tables with tape line and solos weren't getting it done. I will say I think WPT has better rules IMO, 2 racks and shoot till you miss rebuttal.  Basically I would compare Bpong vs WPT to WWF vs WCW in the 90s.

It's a shame AC wont happen again, it was a great event that filled the void between wsobp

  • i think shoot till you miss is an awful rule...thats why you end up with 789 ot's its a team game so if your teamate misses the game should be over shoot till you miss is making the game more of an individual game, if you dont miss you can't lose for a single play that is not how a team game should be played.

I just think it made for more of an exciting big tournament in AC, I really didn't notice excessive 3+ OT games or any delays.

We had a couple 3 or 4 OT games, not too mention a 13 OT game. You don't see that with WSOBP rules. You didn't see delays in AC because in round robin they didn't have rounds set at specific times (instead it seek out teams on your schedule and play at your discretion) and during elimination play there were long breaks in between rounds.
