    how does this work then?  you need 100 teams to show up just to break even.

    they've been running qualifiers and maybe the bar is putting up some $...

    Yea things are a lil different in VA. We havent been charging in our weekly tourneys for teams and still giving $50 prize and various other prizes. Its completely new to VA for Beer Pong @ bars. We have been awarding top 3 teams each night out of 4 nights a week since first week in Feb spots in the $1k tourney in Apr. Problem being most of the teams that are placing top 3 are placing top 3 multiple times. So we started giving out spots to the top 5 teams to feel in the gaps. The $10 entry will fund the prize money and the bar is putting up the rest(they have made hand over fist leading up to it so not a big deal to them).
     

    So yea if your interested pretty much the teams that have qualified leading up to the tourney will get a first round bye where as the teams that just show up will battle it out the first day. We will most likely play double elimination as well so $10 for your shot at $1k is def worth the trip on a weekend if you ask me.
