    Post subject: College Park 1-on-1 Tourney

  • I was lookin on the website the last few days and there was a one-on-one tourney this Saturday to be held at Thirsty Turtle in CP. I was pretty siced to play in a singles tourney without having to make the trip to Baltimore. Why did the tourney get scrapped?

  • Well I went to the Turtle Tuesday night and drank and played pong with Garrett and Joey and them.  Garrett told me they were hoping to have that singles tourney, but that there was not enough interest to actually make the tournament a success, and that is why they were scrapping it.  I'm sure he has more exact details, but that's what he told me.  College Park is not generating as much interest as they would hope.  In my personal opinion, I go to UMD and the beerpong players here blow, maybe that's why the sound of money and beerpong scares them off.  Haha

  • Ha well the players in this area collectively are just as good as the ones in the Baltimore area, but there aren't too many of us. Come on fellas... most of the good players down here travel up north to play in your tourneys; why don't you guys come down here to play tourneys? We host them so rarely its not too much to ask!

Come on fellas... most of the good players down here travel up north to play in your tourneys; why don't you guys come down here to play tourneys? We host them so rarely its not too much to ask!

    It's a lot easier when Joey caravans your asses down here. I'd come to every league and tournament too if I had a free ride.

  • Well B-more still isn't 'hometown' for a lot of us.  Still a 45 minute drive or so.  I'm kind of curious to see how many people from MoCo and College Park come to the April 18th Tourney at Full Moon in Reisterstown.  Although that is still like a 20 minute drive from my house in CC, it is a tourney I would call 'hometown'.

    I'm sure it wouldn't be anything too big, probably more of a social event and charge something small like $10 or $20 a team just so there is a prize. I'd still need to talk to the thirsty turtle management. just feeling this out and making some phone calls today.
