  • As mentioned on mdbeerpong.com this week, there is a lot of ducking going on in the Towson League.  I wanted to start this thread to get everyone's thoughts.

I'm not sure Tom's reasoning in posting what he did about the ducking, but I will offer my thoughts. Between our team, yours, Austin's, Joeys and Jeff's team there hasn't been any ducking. People were accusing Adam of ducking last night, but I don't know because we didn't try to play them

As with some of the other leagues, it seems to me that it's actually the less-skilled teams that are refusing to play the good teams. It's pretty frustrating because we can barely finish our 12 games without a 3 game series against the abovementioned teams. We were begging now two weeks in a row for ANY team to play us just so we could get our 12 in. The less experienced players don't realize that 1. you get better by playing better teams 2. they have no chance at all for the league/tournament title so a loss isn't killing them 3. a double-digit win night isn't going to earn them any more respect.

That's all. I didn't really see any ducking amongst the top teams last night.

There was no ducking going on with Epsilon 7. When we have our name tag on a table and that games is coming to a close very soon there's no reason for me to take my name off the table. That situation occurred when Austin wanted to play a game and no one would play them. He asked me if we wanted to play and I said that we were about to be up on the next table. That is not even close to ducking.

Aaron does need to understand the definition of ducking. Ducking is when you're on the table, and you just finished off a game and Top Scallop is next up and then you just leave and not play them. That's what ducking is Aaron. You had the opportunity to play us. You didn't put your name tag down. Sorry.

I'm looking forward to playing those mandatory match-ups though. They should be fun especially since the standings are so tight right now.

Jeff does bring up a good point. If you want to be one of the better teams you're going to need to face the best competition. A great example of the hard work and facing the best competition throughout a league is the Spring 2008 Canton League when Get Mitch or Die Tryin' (Jeff and Myself). Even though we thought our team was one of the best teams in the league we still wanted to face the other best teams in the league. We did it throughout the entire league and it definitely paid off.

We ended up winning the League Championship and taking he title going undefeated. On our way we beat, McAllister, Drunkenballers, Just Give up Now, Dixie Normous, and then Dixie Normous again to take the Championship. I'd say those are some pretty good teams.

  • I forgot to mention while our 11th game was going on against Bar Tabs 101 Aaron came over to our table and wanted to play us. Ryan and I told him to put their name tag down on the table. Aaron ended up NOT putting that name tag down. I think Aaron briefly discussed this idea with his smart partner and decided not to put that tag down.

Not really sure what happened there but I guess in your words that might be ducking?????

What was talked about was with only 1 game left for Top Scallop, we needed to make sure they didn't play an easy game to gain another game on us.  Due to the fact they are in 2nd place, the decision was made to contend against them because it had more to do with the race for 1st place.

Not discounting anyone, but I really did want to play you guys and I'm sure we'll get a chance next week.

And I will say this now... There is no more hiding for Son's of Jor'el.  They are quietly making a bid for a top spot.  Their 2nd lowest strength of schedule has enabled them to be in 3rd place.  We'll see how their record pans out for the remainder of the season now that this has come to light...

Yea hiding is a good way to put it. They def don't duck, but they seem to hide over on the 2 side tables all night. They are a good team though, but Top Scallop will be gunning for them next week.

No hard feelings Aaron. I just don't want to be profiled as a "ducker"

I'm sure we'll def be seeing you in games next week.

Matt did say it right, Sons of Jor-El is not too shabby. I'll tell you one thing though, they're definitely not "tournament tested" though.

I'm not sure of the caliber of the teams on that other table you were waiting on, but I'm sure they weren't good enough to say that 7 cups on each side classifies as  "coming to a close very soon". Don't deny it, I counted the cups.

You didn't go undefeated, we beat you the first finals game.
