  • The tournament was on a patio; but that's ok.
    It was an enclosed area!

Until 3 cups into the finals, when the ignorant bartender decides to open up the entire patio to the outdoors so that people can smoke.

All of the sudden it is an outdoor tournament.
Did I mention that this bar is on a hillside, next to an open highway?

    Very frustrating conditions.
Full moon has consistently been two of the worst bar experiences I've ever had with pong.

  • It also doesn't help when your teammate goes ice cold in the finals like I did today.   I wish the final results ended up differently but the reality is that I didn't play well enough in the finals and I take repsonsiblity for my poor performance. I am a person who believes in accountability.  Overall, 2nd isn't the end of the world, although everyone would like to win every tourney and I'm no different.  Good job to everyone today and don't get me wrong I actually played well overall but unfortunately the game that everyone watched I looked like I was a graduate of the Helen Keller Beerpong Academy.

I've realized I need to develop an alternate shot.
Granted I'd rather not play in windy conditions altogether, but I still play this game often enough that from time to time I will probably encounter it again.

Basically I want an alternate shot that has a lot more force behind it, but it also puts curve on it to slice (somewhat) through the wind. I messaged ron hamilton today for some pitching tips.

    Anyway mitch, it happens!
You played well, and it was obvious you improved over the past 2 weeks. I'm glad we were able to get a trophy each time! I pretty much chuck all of my 2nd place trophies, but it's still a victory of sorts.

Thanks for the games, you were a good partner. We did not lose any matches until the conditions went to hell, and I let it get to my head. Nothing you could have done about that.

I was still hitting some cups, but I was not myself..
Oh god it was frustrating to have that bartender walk over and open up patio lol.

  • Did anyone else watch the finals video and notice that Sean hit the front cup of the 6-rack but it was never removed from the table?...

  • Funny you mentioned that I just watched the video myself and just got off the phone with Sean about it.  The reason why we didn't notice was we were to busy trying to deny Joey and Shawn a 4th shot on their turn.  Foster is going to talk to Austin about this later today, stay tuned.  It definitely changed the complextion of the game as we happened to get stuck on the six rack and we ended up hitting 10 cups each despite being stuck on that rack.

yeah man O'Hare never pulled the cup, then he immediately rushed up asking us for a ball to take a 4th shot. (They had just taken a third!)

I think it's unreasonable that our opponent almost cheated (unintentionally) to his advantage twice in the same turn. Yeah we should be paying attention - and we were, because we caught one of the attempts - but the other slipped past us. That shit was better misdirection than most magic acts I've seen.

The fucked up thing is we missed 6 times in a row on that cup right after I hit it! And we only "lost" by ONE? Completely changed the entire dynamic. They did not win this tournament IMO.
