It was more of an analogy. If both teams left the field and the refs figured out their mistake a day later, the NFL would have sent out an apology letter to the Browns and that would be it.

God that was a shitty tournament

Well, maybe the venue was shitty. I was pissed that they kept opening the flaps and letting the wind in. Other than that I thought everything was good. The drink and food specials were awesome, the weather was nice, and pretty much every one had a good time.

Garrett would NEVER have allowed this to happen

Hahaha if I had a dollar every time someone put the "6-cup" back on us last night I'd have enough to buy my Corona Light minis for the rest of the season.

Food and drinks were good, and the event was ran well on your end.
I don't really agree with the weather though - I was still too hot.

And yeah the flaps were outrageous.
Bring out 40+ people for a pong tournament and the bartender ruins it all so 3 people can smoke.

There is precident the other way as well, please read the story above.  Sean is correct if this were the other way around I would agree to replay but it's obvious to me that Joey is a poor sport and figured he would refuse the replay.   Joey if you want to back your way into championships your whole life more power to you but I think refusing us the replay (which is the fair thing to do) will cause you to lose the respect of many of your peers.

Just the fact that you refused to change tables after the conditions changed and the wind became a factor says a lot about you.  You knew that your bullet of a shot was better suited for those conditions so rather than play on a level playing field you elected to continue at the table.

Now you didn't even hit more cups in a game and you are claiming championship.  Maybe you should just practice harder so you can beat people fairly rather than depend on wind/mishaps to win torunaments for you.

Austin- I understand the decision and I wish I had caught the mistake but unfortunately I didn't.  I have no issues with you but the fact that our opponnents don't want to man up and earn their torunament victory says a lot about their character to me.

Joey enjoy you $200 and gold trophy but just know that you didn't earn it yet and without a rematch never will in my mind.  Replaying is the "right thing to do", but apparently you don't live by that motto.

  • What needs to be noted is the difference between opinions and reality.

It was too hot or too cold, a blade of grass hit you in the eye, one ball weighs .002 g more than the other, one TV had on the weather channel and the forecast scared you are all opinions on how you feel about the conditions that are typically equal to everyone playing.

If you said "I would replay the match if it were me" is a one sided opinion based on which side of the fence you are on.  The onlookers can only speculate.

Reality is the winning team should have moved the cup and reality is the losing team should have noticed.

Reality is the rules say (#16 and it implies while the tourney is still ongoing) Austin has the final say and he already did.  Game over.

Reality is rules are modified all the time in any sport.  If you want a rule change to help avoid this situation such as cups must be move prior to shooting then so be it.  Right now teams even have the option to re-rack their side before, during, or after their own shots as well.  It enables more human error introduced and shooting preferences to come into play.

I love reading the forums and jumping in and what not but c'mon already.  For now a free pack of tissues should be included with the tourney fees.

  • In addition to my last post.

The Miami Heat example is terrible.  In MDBeerPong the "police your own games" approach is taken with Austin being the the final say in a dispute during the game.  Therefore you, personally, are the official scorer in that article.

Otherwise you can hope that another team misses taking a cup away, play it out, and if you lose then call bullshit and ask for a redo.  I bet if the losing team won all we would read is we even hit 11 cups to your 9 or whatever and you still lost .... we are the best... go me.  If the losing team won and watched this tape... would they play a redo because the game still wasn't 'fair' and maybe the losing team plays better with pressure that wasn't there.....Ha  on and on it goes...

  • you guys give alot examples where a bad call leads to the wrong team winning and how the winning team was still considered the winner........but where's the example of what happens to a team who CHEATS.

we all can be nice and assume that what joey and shawn did was an accident, but since we cant get into their heads, there is no way to know if what they did was intentional or not. IN FACT, them not agreeing to a re-match when they clearly didn't win, leads me to believe more and more that IT WAS intentional!! i mean if your the type of person who wont agree to a rematch when you clearly didnt win, then you may also be the type of person to delibertly leave a cup on the table trying to pull one over.

Now whats done is done, joey and shawn were already declared the winner. theres nothing austin can realy do now. but with that said, there is something the other team could do. they could step up as real men and recongize that they didnt win fairly and agree to a rematch. I mean damn, where is the self-respect? you guys (joey and shawn) clearly didnt win. you did not remove a made cup......and then won by 1 cup......you can hide behind all the 'whats done is done, if we palyed again it wouldnt be the same conditions and intoxication, blah blah blah'......these are words of a coward.

in the rematch, foster and mitch would have to win two games and you guys would only have to win one......why so scared??!??

in all seriousness, I've known shawn for a long time and IT WASN'T INTENTIONAL

I'm just giving them a hard time (but it does invalidate their win imho, officially or not)

  • This whole thing kind of reminds me of the 2 Kids From Hampstead controversey in the WSOBP.

No Quarter ended up having to replay the game they were supposed to play, even though they had already won. They ended up losing a game they already won.
