So I tried out keeping stats on my phone during tournament play and I hated it. I did it for 4 games and shot 67.5% (27/40). I stopped keeping stats after that because I found myself thinking more about the stats than the game itself.

I'm all for keeping stats, but I'm used to having someone else do it on the side... maybe its a matter of getting used to it, but as of know I can't see myself keeping my own stats at tourneys.

it was much easier when I had a phone holder on my side

why don't you use that anymore? is it because you keep stats for your partner as well? it would definitely be a lot better if I didn't have to look at the screen...

no, actually with the old phone I used to track my teammates AND my opponents, because it was so much easier.

the phone I have right now makes it harder because the buttons blend together.
think of it like trying to read braille - I can't tell when my fingers move from one button to the next.

with the sidekick there was a tiny gap between the buttons so it was intuitive where my hand was.. if I was pressing in the upper right corner for example, or one away from it.. or one down from it.

  • It's not quite tournament play, but last sunday with austin at the league we played 15 games.

I made 85/109 (78%) not counting last cup.
I was only 8/20 (40%) on last cup.

Last cup includes any overtimes where only 1 cup remained.
For some reason I really wasn't feeling the 1 cup, but I was able to hit basically 80% on everything else for the day.

I am consistently hitting 2/3, but 3/4 and 4/5 both seem within reach.. maybe another year or two.

  • maybe its just me but I, would have to say that the top 50 players in the country all shoot around 60-65 percent consistently.  I just seems like a bit of a waste of time and energy to keep track of every single shot you take turing every single tourney you play in...I guess I figure your finish in the tourney is more important than your shooting percentage.

  • I'm honored that we were your only blemish last night Foster.

That said, I think it's too early to be claiming the AC crown just yet. Although you're playing incredible right now, the 2009 Austin is no match for the 2007 Austin.

i highly doubt it. if you've never kept track of your stats, subtract at least 10% from what you think you shoot and you'll have your actual percentage.

We still have 6 more weeks, and I'll be practicing harder as the date gets closer.
I'm not claiming anything just yet - but yesterday for the first time we played as a team well enough to have a reasonable chance.

It's a good sign that our practice has actually made an impact.
It's motivation to keep it up.

Maybe it's just me, but I think there is a HUGE difference between the top 10 players in the country and the top 11-50 players in the country.

No way that #44 is on the same level as #3
and FYI I am 66% over the last 5 tournaments so I've already fallen outside of your 60-65 range.
