  • Rumor has it the Winter league will once again be held at Drifter's (SWEET!) on Saturdays.

    Suggestions:

We need to keep the buffet.

We need to have music. And not the doctor's office shit they play at Coburn's.

Maybe some kind of informal scheduling or maybe even "divisions" if we have enough teams... I've found that we end up playing the same few teams every time. This will also encourage participation.

Austin I know you told me some ideas you had the other night, but this is a good venue for everyone to participate.

  • this is not a suggest but more of a comment. How bout the teams that register actually show up for once?!......as jeff said we play the same few teams every week because a third or so of the teams dont even come not that austin has anything he can really do about it except keep promoting and maybe have a bit more time in between leauges to let people get their stuff together

  • I love the divisions idea.  I played in a 16 week league a few years ago (alligned with MNF), and it was great.  Divisions and something similar to the Mandatory Matchup we have in place now.

Buffet would be awesome.  I like the Drifters/Coburns partnership because of the completely different playing atmosphere.  Coburns is great because you can see everyone playing, but clostrophobic at the same time.  Drifters is the exact opposite.  Less of the group atmostphere (possible to not see some people for hours), but much MUCH more space.

  • Thanks for your suggestions.

We're definitely keeping the buffet so that's all good.

I've always been wrestling with the idea of having a more structured league with a play schedule and all that.  The problem is, it's a logistical nightmare.
I think structuring it would require you play one game and then move on to the next team you have to play. I just see that not working.

Having divisions would also be tough since attendance and promptness are always a problem.

If you guys have any ideas about how to structure it, I'm all ears.

  • I don't think structuring the play list would really add that much to the experience.
Weighing it against the extra work and organization it would require I don't think it's worth it.

It's not like there is anything wrong with what we're doing right now.
