We played in a WSOBPV qualifier 1 block away that started at 12pm.  After I played there,  finishing 5th,  I walk the couple hundred feet to the tourny that started at 3:05pm.   .

Same thing happened to us, but it was a total BS tournament anyway and we didn't pay to pre-register so it wasn't as big deal for us.

Speaking of the Buffalo Billiards tournament, who won? And what place did our team No Standards come in? They weren't religious like Austin usually is in posting the results. I thought we were top-5 but if it was a 64-team bracket then we were probably more like 8th in our 4-2 finish.

    Joey,

Sorry about the bad experience you had trying to get into porters, this was a first tournament they have ever run so obviously things are going to be a little rough the first time around.

I see that you said your not trying to slam the WBPT at all, but why would the name of the thread specifically be World Beer Pong Tour?  because that  title specifically targets us as being responsible.

This was the bar hosting the event, it was an "affiliate qualifier" they were simply giving out the prize supplied by us, none of the WBPT staff were there running it or anything, if you have ever been to our events you would know that they are run very smooth, efficient and professional.

Nonetheless, for your troubles you can have a free entry at the next event we have in the area, whether it be at Porter's or not.

I think it is the fact that I know you guys run a smooth tournament,  that made me even more pissed off about the events of the day.  When you go to so many tournaments that are run well,  that is what you come to expect every time.  I only had a "question mark" in the title,  because at the time I wasn't sure who was running the tournament.  I wasn't really there long enough to find out.  Anyways,  I appreciate the offer of the entry and I'll see you guys in AC.

  • The tournament at Porter's was definitely a mess. There seemed like a lot of ambiguity concerning a couple of the rules and it was pretty much a circus in there.

Brian from Carlton Banks and I ended up going through the winner's bracket only to drop two games to the consolation bracket's offering. It was pretty disappointing but hopefully I'll be able to find myself in the winner's circle at some point.

I hope that the "knocked over cup" rule that Porter's was using is different than what is going to be used in AC. I hit the last cup in the finals but it wasn't counted as the cup fell off the table. Perhaps I'm simply used to the MDBeerpong rules but it seems silly that a made cup isn't counted because there may not have been enough liquid in the cup to keep it from falling. It would have forced the other team to nail 3 rebuttal shots in order to continue the tournament. I was given a reshot and would agree that I should have had the composure to hit it again. Unfortunately I did not and we ended up taking rebuttal shots on our next turn.

The environment was pretty hostile in there, as well. Two separate incidents led to people getting tossed out of the bar while we were playing (neither involved our team). I was pretty confident a third incident was going to erupt after Brian accidentally turned into a girl (who was standing on our side of the table berating us for "not drinking all of our beer") and spilled beer on her. Her boyfriend walks over and gets in Brian's face, it gets broken apart and then we try to calm everyone down. I would guess about four or five spectators broke into our game and proceeded to tell us how we were homosexuals because we weren't finishing our beer cups. Although they may or may not be correct in their assumptions concerning our affinity for male-on-male pornography I would like to point out that we were both drinking mixed drinks on the side and drinking about half of the cups that were being hit. Regardless, it would have been nice if we could have played the games and only had to worry about other people's opinions on our sexuality from the sidelines as opposed to interrupting our game to explain ourselves and ask them to step aside so we could play.

Regardless, it was an affiliate qualifier and does not directly reflect upon the WPT. Hopefully, if they run another tournament, Porter's will try to patch up some of the problems that were going on. I'm looking forward to AC but really hope that if I hit another cup, where the ball is clearly in the cup, and it falls off the table that I won't be suffering deja vu.
