    Post subject: ***NEED HELP/INFO**!!

  • Hello,

My name's Blake and I live in Florence, Alabama(North Alabama). Our area has had strict rules on tournaments and other events to be allowed in bars. So, I had put a phone call in to Alabama Beverage Control Board(legal people for bars/establishments in Alabama) about 2 months ago about running beer pong tournaments in our bars here around town to make sure that it wasn't illegal and gave them the rules off your site. Today I received a phone call from the ABC Board and they gave me the "OK" to run beer pong tournaments in our local bars!

So what I was wanting to know is how to get started. Info, rules, tourney set-up, and how we could become part of the WSOBP. Here lately I have just been running tourneys at my house, $20 per team and single elimination. If you could just give me some tips, or someone that could help me get started I would love to be part of the "Road to Vegas"!  Florence, AL is a college town and we have tons of people that come out to these events at my house and now we can publicize it and have it in our bars. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Blake

  • Most of the time it's one of those "if you build it they will come" deals.  Make sure you promote events well, and try to get the bar to have some sort of drink specials.  Five dollar pitchers are great for cash games outside of the tournament.  You will need to get a few tables, cups, and balls.  You can buy all of the equipment you need off of this website.  I would do double elimination though.(Personal preference) You want to make sure that you start the tournament early enough to play all necessary games before last call.  Figure out what you are going to do for prizes.  Are you going to pay out to the top three teams or just the over all winner?  The possiblities are endless.  You just need to think about what you want to do and talk to the bar owners and see what they will offer.  Once you bring in a large crowd a few times they wil be willing to offer more.
