A couple questions:
1) Will you use real tables? The ones they have there now are joke-ass 7-footers.
2) Will there be any elbow rule bullshit? A lot of this goes on there. One time my girlfriend got into a physical fight with some other girls who kept calling her out for elbows. Of course if you use their short tables, leaning does sort of make the game pretty damn easy.

Ok now I read the rules and it looks like any real team would absolutely clean up in this league. The rules are extremely amateur overall:
-"shoulder rule"
-gangbangs count for 3
-NBA Jam rules (if you make 3 in a row, you shoot til you miss)
-if you make ANY cup in rebuttal your last cup goes back on the table
Also there's an "airball rule" (1 cup penalty) and blowing/fingering are allowed, but I don't mind those all that much.
Most of all, 2 game per night/1 game per 2 hours limit????? There's no way in hell I'm going up to the city on a Tuesday for that!

Rules like this is why fights happen and no one comes to play in their tournaments. Hint to everyone trying to run a league to big tournament, adopt WSOBP rules or something very very similar. Don't try to take your house party rules to a bar and try to run a professional tournament...

Hey guys... the rules posted on http://playbeirut.com/NBLrules/ will not be the rules used to play at Bar None. They will come up with their own set of rules. At this point they're still TBD.
As for the tables, that is up to Bar None. At this point, I'm not sure if they're using different tables or using the ones that they currently have. We just provide the league management services, not the supplies (tables, cups, etc). We'll leave bpong.com and other suppliers up to that.
Hope that resolves some concerns...
Cheers,
Steven

I don't live in SF, so this doesn't apply to me. But if the bar normally has problems with rules, I can't see them figuring it out at this point. Oh well - for the most part a league is better than nothing. Hope it works out.

Bar None is full of elbow nazis. I mean elbow rule is all right in principle, but when people obsess about it, that's pretty much the weakest thing of all time.
This incident happened there:

Some people have been asking about this.
I've made the rules we are using public.
http://www.playbeirut.com/barnonesf
Essentially, we are using the WSOBP rules minus the sections that relate to running tournaments. I spoke with the management about the 7 foot tables, which I agree, are not the best. However, after discussing with them they are not really willing to replace them. Perhaps when the league grows in the future we will be able to persuade them to upgrade.
Let me know if there are any other questions.
Thanks,
James
