  • Until we have an agreement with a casino for the event that sets forth all the costs associated with the event,  we won't have any of the information you are looking for.

Nonetheless, here are some general thoughts regarding previous years and our current thinking for next year (which is similar to previous years).

    - We will require people to stay in the hotel that has the event.  The main reason for this is to try to prevent people from driving "just down the road" for the other place they may otherwise stay.

    - The price has ranged from about $325 (in Mesquite) to $500 (last year in Vegas) per person.  We would prefer to not make it cost any more than this.  However, we also want to keep the event on the same dates next year (January 1-5), but in 2009, those dates fall on a weekend.  Thus, room rates may be higher, thereby possibly forcing us to charge more than we'd like.

As soon as we know *anything*, we will put it on BPONG.COM.

  • my advice to everyone on this topic is simple - don't stress the details.  the thing that is probably the most important to you is to get a plane ticket as early as possible.  so as soon as bpong can confirm the dates, then buy a ticket, the rest will work out.  the longer you wait on the ticket the worse it will get... even the difference between buying a ticket on nov 1st vs. dec 1st can be pretty significant.

as hard as it may be to believe... bpong puts on a world class event (from an organization stand-point).  this is not a bunch of drunk college guys running a tournament... it is professional.  the reason it takes a while to get the details hammered out is because they're trying to get you the cheapest entry fee possible, and the biggest prize possible.  it's all good and it's in your interest.

as for the overall cost - take what billy has wrote here, figure in the cost of transportation to vegas (driving, flying, boating, ect) and figure out if you're going to be ball'n or go on the cheap once you're there.  vegas is expensive & there's a shit ton to do - it's all up to you.

when will we be able to sign up?

The earliest we have ever started sign ups was the end of July for The WSOBP II.  Barring any unforeseen circumstances (like last year), we may well have sign ups going by the end of June this year.  We currently have several options in front of us, so as long as one of these options works out, we'll be in good shape for taking sign ups by mid-summer this year.

  • That would be awesome, Billy. I guarantee if you get the summer sign-ups ready, you'll EASILY have 500+ teams. No doubt about it. I don't need to tell you that, though. I'm sure you're well aware.

  • how likely are the dates of Jan 1st thru the 5th? (cause i already confirmed those dates off from work)

ALSO, if anyone can give some advice to holding a WSOBP satelite tourney, that would be sweet. we have been holding organized tournaments already at a local bar with an average of 15 - 20 teams...
