Post subject: Important: Final Rules for WSOBP IV

  • We have finalized the rules for WSOBP IV. Please make sure to read the rules in their entirety before getting to Vegas. You can find the rules at  http://www.bpong.com/wsobp/official-rul … -beer-pong .

There have been numerous changes/clarifications since WSOBP III. I have summarized them here: http://www.bpong.com/nation/beer-pong-blog.

If there are any questions about these rule changes, please post them here. I do ask that you read everything closely before posting.

    Thanks

  • Rule 2G: "If there are multiple cups on the other side, you will get 'shoot-till-you-miss' redemption"

So shoot till you miss with both people if there are multiple cups left on the other side or did you mean the "Unlimited 1-ball Redemption"?

  • Will there be a .pdf file available labeled "Quick Rules" like the one was made for WSOBP III?

Shoot -til-you miss does not imply individuals where I come from... not sure if a change was needed (though clarification is helpful of course)

  • Three things:

    1) Why was the format for the final day changed? last year seemed optimal. Under the new format, the 128th place team only has to win 2 more games than the #1 overall team which isnt the most challenging of missions if they get hot. Last year I think they #128 team would have had to win 4 more games than the #1 team.

    2) Do you have to have a re-rerack? If for example the team on offense shoots and gets to 6 or 3 cups can they keep the formation they have if they so choose or does it have to be re-racked?

    3) I would love to see 1 (or even 2- such as how WPT does it) rack(s) per game called at anytime by the offensive team as opposed to 6 and 3 because it would bring some strategy to the game as well as take away some luck factor.

  • I like that cups knocked over during rerack don't count.
"Team Miller Time" held this against me in the final game for one of our satellites and made me remove a cup from the front of the rack after protesting for a consultation with the host. Couldn't find a ruling on it anywhere but I was saying that it should be as you now have it listed.

I have a question about knocking over last cup.

"If there is one cup on the other side, you get two chances to hit redemption, no matter where the balls are at the time of your stupidity."

Essentially what I take away from this is that if it's the other teams turn and I feel confidant they are going to make last cup against me, I could just knock over last cup on my own.

This way my team is guaranteed to get 2 shots for rebuttal instead of just 1?
Haha I don't know if I would have the gall to do that in the finals ... maybe prelims.

I would suggest this may be a topic for a new thread.  I also know that it has been discussed somewhat extensively in the past.

Personally, I'd prefer to have 10-cup spread formation with no re-racks, but one of the issues with that is that it would likely extend games, and we're on a tight schedule.  I'm not saying these are great reasons, but I know that two of the reasons that have been used to support the 6-3-1 re-racks include, among other things (1) it's easy to remember (i.e., there won't be any issues of claiming a team already used its re-racks); and (2) because of the potential "luck factor," it will help keep games moving along.

As always, this is open for discussion, but I think changing it this close to The WSOBP IV is bad.  It would probably be better to debate and possibly change for V.
