  • I just joined and am pretty intent on going to wsob 5 this upcoming year and had a thought. read over your rules, and while they are similar to ones I use in kansas city, I was wondering if you all had considered adopting the NBA JAMZ rules with heating up and on fire shots?

  • Where in Kansas City is there to play?

Or, is there anywhere for that matter?

  • It's not uncommon to see a player on a team not miss a single shot in a game. Games would end way too quickly. I've played "on fire" at house parties and its best that it stays there.

  • Here's the biggest reason we have never adopted any such rule:  people fly from all over the country/world and spend a lot of money to get to the event.  Wouldn't it suck if you spend all this money and then some guy runs the table on you?  Even if you are a good/great player, you may never get a shot.  By limiting rollbacks and the like, people can at least feel like they have a chance to play the game, even if they get their asses kicked.

  • Alright fair enough. Guess I didn't think about how much it would suck to spend money only to get run off the table with no chance to play. It is a lot of fun at house parties though. That and naked lap are always crowd pleasers. And to the guy asking about locations in K.C.- I am in olathe so if you want to pong some time shoot me an email at flyby4702@sbcglobal.net.

  • To clarify, the reasoning given by Billy was really the initial reasoning we came up with for adopting the "Pope rule" (i.e. one rollback).

At this point, it is our opinion that the WSOBP is unquestionably the most prestigious Beer Pong tournament in existence. Our main goal now is to refine the rules to the point that they make sense in competition. While the "NBA JAMZ" rules are fun for a video game, you will notice that they are not used in the NBA. Our opinion is that over-rewarding hot streaks takes away from the competitive nature of Beer Pong, and therefore should not be included in the WSOBP rules.

  • Probably for the same reason The World Series of Beer Pong is not held in Kansas City or your basement

Don't speak too soon, Nick. The venue and location have yet to be announced.
