    Post subject: Rule clarification

  • I saw a few teams (6 or so) do this at the WSOBP and I didn't think it was legal.  During the game, but not during the shot one of the opposing team members would go to the other team's side of the table and talk shit straight to their face... usually right after a make / miss situation.  As far as I knew it is not legal for the teams to cross the mid-point of the table (unless they're getting a ball or something basic).  Am I wrong on this ruling??  I know one of the teams getting screamed at tried to point this out to one of the judges and he just shrugged his shoulders.  So what is the actual rule for table boundries before and after a shot?

Basically you aren't supposed to cross the plane of the edge of the table except to get a ball.  I know a couple of times I was just frustrated and kind of wandered off to the side and was just ahead of that plane, but immediately caught myself because if the opposing team were dicks they could call me on that.

Although at O'Shea's on the last night there, there was this $200 cash game going on and one of the losing team's friends was right in the face of the other guys shooting.  When I say right in the face, like 2 inches away screaming at them as they shot.  I basically got pissed off and started to yell at that guy and the losing team because it was straight up disrespectful.  When they lost, the guy shut up real good.
